What happens when Sogeti experts meet with students at HoGent’s Tech & Trends Days to conduct a workshop on Business Analysis with Generative AI? Future business leaders are given a unique opportunity to interact directly with industry professionals and gain insights into how Generative AI is reshaping business analysis. Yvain Verelst, Practice Lead for the Ghent Regional Office, Edward Vincx, Business Modernization & Automation Expert, and Ayoub Khan, generative AI consultant, facilitated the workshop. We bring you a summary, along with pictures, for a perfect glimpse of the day.

About the event

HoGent, a regional university near our Ghent office, hosted its annual Tech & Trend Days from February 12 to February 14. Sogeti participated as part of a larger industry consortium invited to organize a session for students, focusing on business and functional analysis. The workshop targeted third-year bachelor’s students in applied computer science.

The Sogeti-led workshop marked the first of many planned initiatives aimed at building brand awareness and fostering local talent. With an interactive format, the session invited students from various business disciplines—particularly those studying business and functional analysis—to explore the practical applications of Generative AI in their future careers.

Empowering students through knowledge

The three-hour session covered a range of topics, starting with an overview of branding, marketing, and business operations. The team then delved into practical exercises on prompt engineering, giving students hands-on experience using large language models for real-world applications.

Emphasis was placed on how these tools can enhance productivity and business decision-making, connecting Generative AI with business modernization and automation practices. Yvain shared that the goal was to equip students with tangible skills in prompting and using large language models for business purposes. “We had around 12 students focused on business analysis majors,” he explained. “Our aim was to guide them on how to use AI tools effectively, share helpful tips, and empower them to leverage these technologies in their careers.”

Recruitment, branding, and thought leadership

An important aspect of the event was Sogeti’s positioning as not just a service provider but a thought leader committed to shaping the next generation of business leaders. Yvain emphasized the strategic importance of brand-building: “We want to be known for our leadership in both Generative AI and business analysis,” he said.

“We aim to show businesses how AI tools can be used in innovative ways while helping students excel in this ever-evolving landscape.” Edward highlighted the event’s value in establishing Sogeti’s local presence and building relationships with students and educational institutions.

“This is a step toward preparing business analysts for the future, focusing on Generative AI,” he noted. “We hope this will lead to future collaborations with clients looking to integrate AI into their business operations,” added Yvain.

Feedback and future plans

The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many students praising the workshop’s relevance to current industry trends. The event provided an exceptional opportunity for students to engage directly with industry professionals and gain insights into how Generative AI is transforming business analysis.

Looking forward, the team plans to make these workshops a regular occurrence—whether annually or each semester—ensuring that future students continue to benefit from valuable learning experiences. “It was our first workshop, but we’re already planning for ways to expand and improve,” Yvain remarked.

“Our primary goal is to help students become the best versions of themselves, leveraging new technologies to make an impact in the business world.”

The bigger picture

While the session centred on skill-building and knowledge-sharing, Sogeti’s broader mission is clear: fostering talent, promoting innovation, and supporting students as they step into the business world. By integrating Generative AI with business analysis, we aim to inspire the next generation of business leaders to harness emerging technologies and transform industries.

As the event concluded, the team reflected on their success in engaging students with fresh insights and exciting opportunities. “It’s more than just branding or recruitment,” Yvain explained. “It’s about building relationships, empowering the next wave of business analysts, and equipping them with the best tools to tackle future challenges.”
